A great year for Coaler Track and Field

Track and Field season has come to a close for the Coalers, and it was a record setting year for both the boys and girls teams.

The boys team finished with an Illinois High School Association [IHSA] record of 8-1 and the girls finished at 7-2. Three members of the girls team—Maddie Castle, Ella Wills and Evelyn Wills—qualified for the state finals, and representing the boys team at state were Parker Jacovec and Julian Micetich, who medaled in the 110 meter hurdles.

Over the course of the season, track and field athletes set 243 personal records, 26 top 10 All-Time Records were set, eight athletes were named All-Conference and 23 were Academic All-Conference.

Three school records were set with Sydney Larson in pole vault, Parker Jacovec in long jump and Julian Micetich in the 110 meter hurdles—a record set in the preliminary round of the state finals at 14.74.

The track and field athletes were recognized last week at the end of the season awards ceremony.

Special awards were presented to Team MVPS—Julian Micetich with 185.25 points and Ella Wills with 171.25 points.  Most improved awards were presented to Charlie Pfeifer and Liz Nadess and the Team Spirit Award was awarded to Gabriel “Fuzzy” Hamilton.
