Senior golfers honored

Coal City High School honored its senior golf team members this week. Senior Night for the boys team was held Tuesday, Sept. 12 at Cinder Ridge Golf Course and the senior girls team was honored prior to the Lady Coaler volleyball match on Wednesday, Sept. 13. 

Senior golfers on the boys squad are Brodie Agnoli, Ethan Bach, William McArdle, Ryland Megyeri, Barnabas Rivera and Jack Varnak. 

The senior members of the Lady Coaler golf squad are Tanna Curry, MaKayla DeMarse, Gianna Ferrara, Giselle Guerrero, Cassidy Jenke and Kiley McKim.

Senior Brodie Agnoli was accompanied on Senior Night by coach Joe Micetich.  Brodie is a two year member of the golf squad. Along with his studies at the high school, he is enrolled at the Grundy Area Vocational Center [GAVC]. Following high school he plans to enter the trades.

Ethan Bach is a four year member of the Coaler golf team. He was accompanied on Senior Night by his parents, Kevin and Denise Bach. In addition to golf, Ethan is involved in trapshooting. He plans to continue his education at Joliet Junior College. 

William McArdle is a four year member of the golf team. He was accompanied by his parents Shawn McArdle and Hollie Washburn. In addition to golf, William also participates in baseball. After graduation in May 2024, he hopes to continue in athletics and is on a path to follow in the footsteps of his father by becoming a tech engineer. 

Senior Ryland Megyeri, the son of Shanna Arnold and Chris Megyeri, was accompanied on Senior Night by his mom and step-dad, Tom Arnold. A three year member of the golf team, Ryland also participates in wrestling and is a member of the student council. He is planning to continue his education following graduation, however a school and major remains undecided.

First year golfer Barnabus Rivera was honored for his contributions to the team during Senior Night. He was accompanied by Kelli and Lyle States. In addition to golf, Barney participates in wrestling and student council. Following graduation he plans to attend fire school.

Senior Jack Varnak, accompanied by his parents John Varnak and Lindsay Eddy,  was honored as a four year member of the golf team.  He is also a member of the school’s baseball and bass fishing teams. After graduation, Jack plans to attend Joliet Junior College, complete the fire academy and work as a part-time firefighter. 

Senior golfer Tanna Curry is a first year team member. She was accompanied on Senior Night by her parents, Tiffany Krizmanic and Karl Curry. Tanna also participates in basketball, Link Leaders and Coalers with Character. Following graduation she plans to pursue a career in physical education. 

First year team member MaKayla DeMarse was honored for her contributions to the Lady Coaler team. She was accompanied by her parents,  Andy and Ronica DeMarse. In addition to golf, MaKayla is a member of the soccer team and participates in Link Leaders and Spanish Honor Society. Her future plans are to begin her studies at Joliet Junior College  and transfer to a university to major in nursing. 

Gianna Ferrara joined the Lady Coaler golf team this year. She was accompanied on Senior Night by Julia and James Conterez. She is also involved in Link Leaders and Coalers with Character. Her future plans are to attend Joliet Junior College to study nursing. 

Giselle Guerrero is a first year member of the Lady Coaler golf team. Honored on Senior Night, she was accompanied by Veronica Luna. Along with golf, Giselle is involved in student council, student ambassadors and Link Leaders. She plans to continue her education at a four year college and major in nursing. 

Senior Cassidy Jenke, a two year member of the golf team,  was honored for her contributions on Senior Night. She was accompanied by her parents Raquel and Michael Jenke. Cassidy is a member of Coalers with Character, Link Leaders, National Honor Society and plays varsity soccer. Her future plans are to attend Joliet Junior College—major undecided—and play soccer for the Wolves. 

First year golfer Kiley McKim was honored for her contributions to the team during Senior Night activities. She was accompanied by Patrick VanDuyne and Brooke Howard. Kiley is also a member of the Lady Coaler soccer team and participates in FBLA and Spanish Honor Society. Her post high school plans are currently undecided.
