Allison Peterson, Librarian

Hello, and thank you for stopping by my page!  My name is Allison Peterson, and I am Coal City School District's certified librarian, housed at the high school, and an AP English Literature and Composition instructor.  I have a B.S. degree in English Education from Olivet Nazarene University (2006), an M.S. degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2013), and an M.S. degree in Reading from Olivet Nazarene University (2017).  I taught English from 2006-2012 at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School before starting my library career here at Coal City High School for the 2012-2013 school year.

As librarian, I am responsible for the daily management of the CCHS Learning Resource Center, which includes teaching information literacy lessons and fostering a lifelong love of reading in all students.  I am also responsible for placing all orders and applying for grants to help us achieve our reading goals.  For the 2022-2023 school year, I am also excited to work every other morning with our CCMS ELA students in their library.

I am also a Student Council Co-Sponsor (in charge of Homecoming and other CCHS events throughout the year), and Junior Class Co-Sponsor (in charge of Prom and Pies for Prom).

I have a passion for reading and a firm belief that all students have the ability to become lifelong lovers of reading-you just need to find that ONE BOOK (it's out there, I promise) that will get you hooked!

Stop in to the LRC anytime to learn more and experience our welcoming atmosphere!
