Mr. Mikula's Page

It is our mission to prepare today's learners for tomorrow's challenges.

Welcome to Coal City High School!  CCHS is a four-year high school in north-central Illinois, and is a member of the Illinois High School Association and the Illinois Central Eight Conference.

I am a 2005 Coal City High School graduate and proud to be back at my high school to serve my community.  After high school, I received my Bachelors Degree in Math Education from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.  After college I taught for math for 6 years at Reed-Custer High School. During my tenure there, I received my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia Chicago.  I then transferred from  Reed-Custer to Coal City Middle School where I worked as an 8th grade math teacher for 4 years.  Then, I was hired as the Assistant Principal at Coal City Middle School and Homeless Liaison for the Coal City Unit School District for the 2021-2022 school year.  I enter my third year as an administrator as the Assistant Principal at Coal City High School for the 2023-2024 school year and I could not be happier.  It is great to be back home at CCHS with our amazing staff!

I currently live in Coal City with my wife of 9 years and my two daughters.  Both of my daughters will be attending Coal City schools this year at the Early Childhood Center.  I coach my daughters’ soccer teams through Coal City Soccer Club as well as the Middle School Track Team.

If I can be of any assistance at any time, please do not hesitate to contact me.
