Welcome to the 2024-25 school year!

My name is Melissa George and excited to start my fifth year at Coal City High School and fourth year as the PATH teacher! My first year, I was the Social Studies Co-Teacher but my passion is the self-contained classroom.Therefore, when the opportunity arose, I became the PATH teacher. I have over 10 years experience in other districts and positions in public education but over 20 in various educational settings. Before my career in public education, I ran my own business as a freelance graphic designer.

I have a double B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education from Grand Canyon University. In addition, I hold an A.A. in Applied Science, an endorsement in to educate English Language Learners (ELL) and a certification as a Crisis Prevention Instructor (CPI Instructor).
