Coal City High School Girls Tennis team showed incredible heart and competitive spirit in two recent non-conference matches, falling just short in both with identical 3-2 scores against both LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa Township. The team was consistently led by dominant performances from its two single players—Becca Hall and Kyla Kohler.

Becca, No. 1 Singles, and Kyla, No. 2 Singles, were nothing short of spectacular, delivering all four victories for the Coalers across the two contests, said Coalers Coach Matt Leman

The Coal City High School Girls' Tennis team showed incredible heart and competitive spirit in two recent non-conference matches, falling just short in both with identical 3-2 scores against both LaSalle-Peru and Ottawa Township. The team was consistently led by dominant performances from its two singles players, Becca Hall and Kyla Kohler.

Against LaSalle-Peru, Becca was dominant, sweeping her match against Ella Lannen with a commanding 6-0, 6-2 victory, and Kohler delivered a highlight-reel performance against Meredith Politsch, winning in two demanding tiebreakers 6-0, 6-4. Kyla, who looked amazing on the court, never gave up and played with the best court movement she's demonstrated all season.

In the match against Ottawa Township, Becca continued her outstanding play, defeating Savannah Fredericksen with an impressive 6-1, 6-1 win, and Kyla showed her clutch ability in a thrilling match against Reese Purcell, winning a pair of nail-biting tiebreakers 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).

Despite the singles success, the Cavaliers and Pirates proved too strong in the doubles competition, securing their respective team victories by sweeping all six doubles matches.

This brings the Lady Coalers record to 10-8 on the season, with the outstanding, high-level play from Becca and Kyla providing a major bright spot and crucial momentum for the Coalers as they continue to look ahead to IHSA Sectionals on Oct 17.
