Coalers attend MFG Day

Career and Technical Education [CTE] students at Coal City High School attended the 10th annual Manufacturing Day with their instructors Mr. Kennell and Ms. Matusiak.

MFG Day, a nationwide movement,  is sponsored by the Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association [TRMA], in partnership with Joliet Junior College [JJC]. This year’s event was held Tuesday, Oct. 7 at JJC’s Main Campus. The event is geared toward students in 9th – 12th grade who have an interest in S.T.E.M. or Applied Technology (CTE) careers or fields of study.

In addition to MFG Day, the Makers on the Move bus tour stopped by the event. Makers on the Move is a dynamic, statewide bus tour celebrating Manufacturing Month by shining a spotlight on the innovation, opportunity, and impact of modern manufacturing. Throughout the month, the tour will visit factories, technical colleges, and high schools across the state—offering an up-close look at today’s high-tech, clean, and sustainable manufacturing environments. With each stop, Makers on the Move aims to inspire students, engage communities, and connect employers with the next generation of talent. This is more than a celebration—it’s a chance to redefine what manufacturing looks like and highlight the diverse, rewarding careers available in this vital industry.

In all there were nearly 40 exhibitors at this year’s MFG Day including companies, trades and college and career training programs.
