Coal City achieved its best 18 hole team score at the Illinois Central Eight [ICE] Conference Tournament with a 342, and that placed them in third for the day.
“I am very proud to see our players continuing to improve this season. They are definitely ready for the IHSA postseason,” said Coach Harlan Kennell.
For the Coalers, Jaxon Duke and Frankie Ponio were recognized with All Conference Awards. Jaxon finished in third place, 43.7 average, overall for the conference season out of 48 golfers. Frankie Ponio finished in 11 place overall with a 45.7 average. Also on the course for the Coalers were Kory Lovell, Cody Scheer and Reed Sulzberger.
The conference tournament was held today—Monday, Sept. 22—at Wolf Creek Golf Course.
