As a reminder to graduating seniors, a number of local scholarships are available to assist with the cost of higher education and the application deadlines for several of these financial awards are within the next week.
The Unit 1 Educational Foundation annually awards a number of scholarships to assist high school seniors with their future studies. Along with the foundation scholarships, the organization oversees a number of personal scholarships presented by and in memory of alumni, friends of the district and local businesses. The application deadline is Monday, April 22 for these scholarships.
In 2024, the foundation will present the Unit 1 Scholarship to students planning to attend a college or trade school. The amount of these scholarships vary. The foundation will also present the Coal City Firemen's Association Scholarship, Josh Cumming Memorial Scholarship, Reeves/Baskerville Scholarship, Rick Darling Memorial Scholarship , Floyd and Norma Calcaterra Family Scholarship, Coal City High School class of 1984 Scholarship, Matt Vignocchi Memorial Scholarship, Lori Bonarek Scholarship.

April 24—Touchdown Club and Constellation Scholarships
April 30—Coal City Athletic Boosters and Aimee Gerhardt Outstanding Human Scholarships
May 2—Donald L. Pfeifer Memorial Scholarship
