Da Vinci Device in Google Classroom

Da Vinci Device

"It is not to be despised, in my opinion, if, after gazing fixedly at the spot on the wall, the coals in the grate, the clouds, the flowing stream, one remembers some of their aspects; and if you look at them carefully you will discover some quite admirable inventions. Of these the genius of the painter may take full advantage, to compose battles of animals and of men, of landscapes or monsters, of devils and other fantastic things." Leonardo da Vinci

Pareidolia - the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.

Your objective in this creative challenge to start the year is to perceive some image in the random coffee stained paper and draw into that stain using your creative imagination.  Feel free to use a variety of media. (i.e. watercolor, pencil, colored pencil, etc.)

When you are finished...Document (take a picture of your work) and Turn In.

Neurographic Doodling in Google Classroom

Neurographic Doodling

Intuitive scribble - Think of a challenge you are having or an emotion you are feeling. Put your pen on the edge of your paper. Thinking of this word, draw freely for 5-10 seconds. Your feelings are in control of the mark you’re making. (If your line ends in the middle of the page, pull it off an edge.)

Transformation - Look for all the intersections of lines. Soften the sharp edges and angles by rounding the intersections with your pen. This part should be  meditative and calming. It will take your mind off your problem.

Integration - Now add more overlapping shapes. You are in control here. You can add overlapping organic shapes or trace geometric shapes on top for contrast. When you are done adding, you will need to transform the new intersections like you did before (rounding each corner).

Color - Finish by adding color or pattern to your artwork. This will create balance, rhythm, and unity. Everything working together in harmony.
