Sketch, doodle, design and idea that represents something you are thankful for.

Sketch, doodle, design anything you would like this week for our bell ringer.  Be sure to document, upload, and TURN IN at the end of the week.

Sketch, doodle, or design a Halloween Costume. This could be your actual costume for this year or just an idea for one.  After you complete your sketch be sure to document your work and attach the image and TURN IN.

After watching the video and reading through the handout you will do some independent research as you complete the 'Surrealism Research Guide.' Use the 'What is Surrealism PDF' along with researching some of the names on the 'Surrealist and Fantasy Artists PDF' to fill out the 'Surrealism Research Guide.' Once you have finished you will TURN IN your completed work.

Compete the packet in class over the course of three lessons. Turn in hard copy in the file folder at the front of the room.

Sketch and design something that reminds you of goodbyes. This could be a happy goodbye, like sending a sibling away to college. This could be a sad goodbye, like the loss of a pet. This could be a Midwestern goodbye, where you're begging your parent to leave a family gathering because they won't stop saying goodbye to everybody.

Will be submitted on paper.

This weeks bell ringer is a free draw. You get to decide what to draw/sketch/doodle/design.  Have fun and be creative!

Leaning into the theme of Homecoming Week, sketch out a design for Glitz and Glamour. What or who do you think is glamorous?

Sketch out a design that reminds you of a positive childhood memory. Think back to your childhood hobbies, tv shows, books, family stories, etc.

Sketch out a design that screams "Fall" to you. How does the fall season make you feel?

Complete the attached worksheet (given to you in class) following-along with the "What is Still Life?" video and turn in during class. Once you have submitted the hard copy, click "turn-in."

Students will use Line, Shape, and Value to draw an Apple from observation in 3 phases.  The first phase will be the whole apple, the second phase will be with one bite taken, and the third phase will be down to the core.  Use dynamic value with gradations of light to dark.  When you are finished you will take a picture of your finished drawing and attach it to this assignment and TURN IN.  (Tip - take a picture at each phase so you can reference the highlights and shadows during the second class period)

Follow along with the videos and draw with Mark Kistler. We will draw each category of shape. (i.e. Free-Form, Organic, and Geometric) Once you are finished you will take pictures of your work and attach them to this assignment. This assignment is worth 15 points.

Using the attached worksheet and your knowledge from what was covered in class, show me what you know by answering the following questions:

1. Which composition is more compelling why?
2. How are the compositions different?

Consider: -Value -Color -Line -Texture -Shape -Space -Cropping -Repetition

The worksheet attached contains the pictures you will be using to complete the assignment. I will also project them on the board for those in class. Please type your answers into the box and click "submit."

Documents and digital handouts used in class to demonstrate the elements of design are also attached.

Students will create a personality sketch that includes their name and at least three things about them. Required images: Their name using creative lettering and at least three things about themselves using drawn objects.

As we begin the school year I want you to remember that your attitude will set the course. Having a growth mindset is key to success in any endeavor. Create a poster that you can hang up to remind yourself of this concept. Using creative lettering create a visually pleasing composition for your poster. Feel free to use a variety of media. (i.e. watercolor, pencil, colored pencil, etc.)
