Welcome to the award-winning Coal City Theatre Department!

Coal City Theatre Department is responsible for producing all the theatrical productions within Coal City CommunityUnit School District #1. Over the last 10 years, the department has garnered 26 nominations for the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards, and have brought home the award four times, including Jack Micetich's win in 2023 for Best Direction of a Musical for his work on Anastasia.

In addition to our program's success,  students have seen success at the state-wide level. All State Production Alumni include—Lexi Dearth, Jordan Olson, Mason Natyshok, Sam Vota, Derek Carlson, Stephen Byers, Jr., Kayla Connelly, Riley Nevin, and Gavyn Williams.
