About Mr. Keppner
I am beyond excited to begin my fifth year at Coal City High School. I earned my bachelor's degree in social science education from Olivet Nazarene University with certifications in history, economics, and political science; as well as endorsements in special education (LBS1) and middle school. I began my career at conference rival Peotone High School as a special education teacher in a self-contained classroom environment and quickly moved into the general education setting. I have taught MOST of the traditional social studies classes including U.S. History, World History, Human Geography, Civics, Sociology, Economics, AP Government & Politics, and will be adding Current Events to the list this year!
I am proud to serve my third year as CCHS Head Track Coach. I have been involved in track & field for many years; this will be my seventh year as a certified coach. I specialize in field events with an emphasis in the high jump. In addition to track, I will begin my fifth year as an assistant speech coach.
I married my high school sweetheart (we are both teachers) and love traveling with her! We got married in Mexico and have since traveled to numerous countries together; the most special of which was an October 2022 trip to Thailand where we brought home our daughter, Ellie. Legally, I can't post photos of her in a public setting until the adoption is finalized in all countries (a very long process!), but just know she is one of the cutest and happiest little girls you could ever meet.
